Ridgeline Study Prompts

 Acts 19:1-10

Prayer and Preparation

In Psalm 119:18 the psalmist wrote, “Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” Make this your prayer today. Ask the Lord to open your eyes, your mind, and your heart. Take time to behold wondrous things out of God’s Word.

Study

About a year has passed since Paul left Corinth. Based off last week’s text and the first verse of chapter 19, summarize what’s been happening in that year.

Paul found a dozen or so men in Ephesus who were known as disciples. But Paul asks an interesting question that reveals some gaps in their knowledge and beliefs. What was it that they believed in, and what appears to be missing?

Read 2 Corinthians 1:22 as well as Ephesians 1:13-14 and 4:30. What is the significance of the Spirit coming, and falling upon them?

Application

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law... 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” – Galatians 5:22-23, 25

In what ways is your life marked by the work of the Holy Spirit? Where do you see the fruit of the Spirit being produced in your life? After writing down some of your observations, describe how does this encourage you to continue in your pursuit of sanctification?
